About the Director

 

Dr. Harris Loewen, originally from Vancouver, makes his home in St. Catharines, Ontario, where he is Professor of Music at Brock University and conducts the university Chamber Choir and Women’s Chorus.

He is also founder and artistic director of the Niagara Vocal Ensemble and, more recently, the Avanti Chamber Singers which perform regularly throughout southern Ontario. Dr. Loewen has performed frequently as a professional chorister and baritone soloist, and remains active as a choral adjudicator and clinician.

The May 2008 concert, Choral Pleasures, marks Dr. Loewen’s farewell as Music Director and Conductor of the Etobicoke Centennial Choir which he has led since the 1994-1995 season.
