ABOUT THE CHOIR |
|
Founded by a small group of singers who participated in a massed choir for Etobicoke’s official celebration of Canada’s Centennial in 1967, the Etobicoke Centennial Choir is now in it’s 41st season. The Choir has grown to be a strong mixed-voice ensemble which continues to enrich the cultural life of Etobicoke by performing an annual concert series. Since it’s inception, the Choir has sung at a Variety of community events as well as in many locations in southern Ontario. The three-concert season encompasses a varied repertoire of classical and contemporary works, both sacred and secular, and has included works written for the choir. The Choir annually awards a scholarship at the Kiwanis Music Festival to encourage young people in the performance and enjoyment of choral music. This award is provided through the Barry Gosse Tribute Fund, a fund established in memory of the Choir’s long time conductor and friend, Barry Gosse. Members of the Choir share a love of choral music. Entering our 15th year under the dynamic leadership of Harris Loewen, we remain dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and treat their audiences to a wide variety of choral repertoire. This year we offer exciting programmes with selections from the works of the masters to those of contemporary composers. |
